How can anyone justify to buy a $500-$1,000 video card(s)?

maybe because i'm poor but you'd never catch me spending that much on a gpu. even worse, 2 7800gtx in sli ~$900-$1,000. i could build another computer with that much money. anyway, that's just my short rant. 🙂

PC prices keep going down (considering you get better hardwares per generation) yet video card prices keep going up (can now be more expensive than a system itself).

i think he did his "thing" before the 7800gtx came out, so i believe he got 2 x 6800u's in SLI

I personnally couldn't justifyspending that much money on a GPU, because I won't be any better of a gamer. Upping the settings isn't even that important if the gameplay is good. I'll be just as bad at CS:S if I get 60 or 600FPS, at 10*7 or 20*15. If you like cars, buying a faster one will let you drive faster, but if you game, buying a faster video card won't make you game better (as long as you can get useable FPS at low res and detail).

If I had 150 million dollars, chances are my computer at home just might have 2 top of the line cards in SLI
