How can a system be completely stable when overclocking?

Try using RMClock to set the Cool and Quiet voltages manually. Also try setting the vCore manually in RMClock to see if that helps end the fluctuations from your mobo.

Wait, you're trying to run two sticks of that RAM at 2.6v? That's your problem, period. That RAM requires 2.7v to run two sticks at stock speeds. As a matter of fact, it requires 2.7v to run two sticks at any almost any speed.

hmmm, are you sure it's supposed to run at 2.7V, this is the product on the ocz site (note mine is 2gb) hmmm, does it matter if i pass memtest86, that large difference in voltage would seem to make the ram unstable in memtest

i'm pretty sure the issue with the antec psu and A8N Series only occured in the neopower first revs

I am running a passive chipset fan (Zalman NB47J)...its running pretty cool since i have a 120mm fan really close to it (between hard drive and mobo)

Yes, I'm positive. The specs that memory companies give are always for one stick, always. If you want to take one stick out, I can guarantee you that it will get rid of your problems. Well, besides the fact that you almost certainly need a bit higher vcore. But, more vcore is not nearly as bad as trying to run two sticks of OCZ Platinum at 2.6v. I've got two sticks of PQI Turbo (same RAM, exactly-- well, same IC, it just overclocks higher) and 2.6v worked just fine for the first one. Then I bought another stick and I have to give the pair of them 2.7v.

alright.....since your positive, i'll test your solution first, would 2.65V be enough since the timings are somewhat loose...

hmmm, so memtest has virtually no usage in testing stability for real-world programs

Why are you so reluctant to give it more voltage anyway? Its not going to damage it.

well, there's no point in giving more voltage than needed....in addition, i don't really want the extra heat coming from the increased voltage (these rams already run pretty hot) and i'm trying to keep the psu with as little strain as possible (psu is already kind of crappy and i'm looking at upgrading to a 7900GT or X1900XT)

I have an Asus a8n-sli deluxe with a x2 3800 and the same RAM as Unkno @ all stock.
Ram voltage is at 2.6 and timings are 2-3-2-5 T1 and everything is stable, well at least I haven´t got any BSOD. I also set vcore at 1.275 in RmClock.

oh yea, that reminds me....at stock, my whole system is stable (ocz ram at stock is running at 2.6V)

alright...so another update....at 1.65V, the system was stable for a week and a half (either good progress or just luck); however, it crashed today during idle (was at work so i couldn't record the error). I am now bumping up the vDimm to 1.70V and testing.


If this doesn't work, i'll be trying (again) the 2T command rate, looser timings, and/or less FSB. And if all else fails, this'll give me an opportunity to buy a seasonic S12-500W psu and trash this crappy antec smartpower2.0 450W.....would the seasonic 500W be enough?

Glad to hear it was at least fairly stable for quite awhile. Yeah, a 500 watt Seasonic has about twice as much power as a 450 watt Antec. Antec is one of those "just good enough" brands, until you can afford something better. Not the worst, but nowhere near the best, either.
