How can a blackberry take as long to boot up as a PC?

Lame. My black berry world edition crashes sometimes and I have to yank the battery. Upon putting it back in the thing literally takes as long as a PC to boot up; completely unusueable for a few minutes.

Yeah I always thought that was odd, but after switching to my HTC Fuze I would much rather have it take longer to boot up than be this slow doing everything. Man this thing takes forever to do anything.

I'd assume it's because eyerything has to be loaded with such a slow processor, compared to a PC.
You should see how long a P990i takes to load up. (I'll time it and get back to you)

Is it still booting? It's been 10 min!

Yeah I'm not a fan either. The only solace we have is that most smartphones take that long to boot up so it's not just BB. That's why most the phones don't do a full shutdown unless you specifically tell them to.

I still haven't figured out how to full power this down save pulling the battery, even if I navigate through and go power off, the thing doesn't want to.

Hmmm, it should. When I click the power button from the menu (not the actual power button on the phone) it gives me the option of 'power off' and 'full power off'. I have an updated firmware but I'm pretty sure it was available in the stock firmware as well.

Have you tried any new roms for the phone? When I was looking at this phone, people were telling me there are roms all over for these and one of the popular ones really speeds up the device. Just curious.

I would think so, but still if I press a button a while after it will quickly come back on, so it's not fully off!

There is a free program called 'BatteryPull', which initiates a full reboot. Check the CrackBerry forums for links.
