How 'bout this: Shutdown of WinXP machine from MacOS 10.2 machine over LAN?

Well,

I just seem to want to make my life more and more difficult! 😎

I know there are several software solutions for shutdown Windoze machines ...*from* Windoze machines over the network.

However, I'd like to shutdown my desktop PC running WinXP Pro from my G3 laptop sharing a wireless LAN.

Anyone know of a way to do this?

If the PC is running IIS and web access remote desktop, or whatever the term is. All you need is a browser. Sure, alot of people don't want IIS running, but it does work pretty well. I run mine at work in case I am at a machine without a TS client and need to get to my rig.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! This is great!!

I hadn't wanted to startup IIS and the remote web login...but....if the command line option doesn't work..I just may do that. We'll see!

IIS does not have to be installed to use Remote Desktop Connection.

I think I'd still use Telnet and the command line shutdown utility.

Why in the world would you want IIS running to do such a simple task? 😕
