All Suggestions Welcome

Yes, I would probably go with some Corsair XMS memory for just a bit more.
I would also go with the Samsung 900NF monitor, which costs less at newegg, before I got that Sony one, which seems to be overpriced.
Again, that psu is overpriced and not a name that I would go with like Antec, Sparkle, Enermax, or PC Power & cooling.
You will be waiting on a video card for awhile too considering the Gforce FX isn't out for awhile yet.

mom won't get a ti4200 so i can put it in the new one then get the FX in a few months...then put the Ti4200 in the Compaq and sell the GeForce2 MX for $20...is that a good idea?...the whole thing?...sorry dude, will change the psu but looking for a good one...maybe Antec True430 for $78

I'll tell ya what, chances are you will have a better selection with buying a monitor online, get a better price, and if anything goes wrong with a monitor, you will have to deal with the manufacturer anyway cause the store will only guarantee it for you for a couple of weeks. Monitors usually last a long while and when time comes to warranty it, you will have to send it away probably anyway.

It's up to you of course, but I have bought several monitors online and they have come well packed and error free when I received them. There's no difference between you having it shipped directly to you than it is for the store like Best Buy or Staples to have it shipped to them and then you go pick it up for a premium in price.

Well from what I have heard, Geil is not a wise brand of Memory to go with. But that's all I heard 🙂
Yeah, I read somewhere that Geil just uses REALLY overclocked GL2100 (7ns) chips.... and that if you
take the heatspreaders off you lose all stability (not that I would)... but who knows.
