For 99% of computer uses, any new mac and PC will run at the same speed:
Word processing: as fast as you can type.
Web browsing: as fast as your internet connection will go.
Email: as fast as you can read.

The applications where the speed of the computer is actually relevant, aside from gaming, are fairly specialized in areas like scientific modeling and 3d rendering. And generally, the people using those kinds of applications can afford to buy whichever machine they feel is better suited for the task.

So, nothing (practical) is going to run any faster on either the PC or the mac. Is the PC cheaper? Yes. But hey, you're going to drive the same speed on the freeway in a BMW or a Honda Civic. For some reason some people keep buying BWMs, despite the price.

You don't have to prefer the macintosh to the PC. I'm just tired of the "There's no games for it!" argument. If you want to judge computer platforms based solely on the avaialbility of games and price, you'd be posting from a PS2.
