How big was your bedroom as a kid?

I am currently in a room 10' X 18'. We are gonna be moving at Xmas where my new room will be 13' by 13'. Ive been playing around with a scale model on graphing paper and I cannot fit all of my stuff.

I currently have:

twin bed w/ small nightstand
tv stand
20g aquarium
computer desk - CRTs = no room to work
normal desk - for homework
dresser/printer stand

If I lose the aquarium, tv stand and night stand I can barely squeeze everything in. Like, I wont be able to fully open the drawers on my dresser. My chair wont be able to roll out all the way from my desk. Stuff like that.

Am I jerk for complaining to my parents about this?

Yes.

Besides, 10 x 18 is 180 sq ft. 13 x 13 is 169 sq ft. Not that much difference.

Welll... yes. My room was quite a bit smaller than that when I was a kid... I survived. I didn't have two desks, just one. I put my TV on the dresser. I didn't have or need a night stand. I sure as heck didn't have MULTIPLE CRT monitors. Trim the fat.

Dont quite remember how big my childhood room was when i lived there. I left that house at the end of elementary school but parents kept the house and used it as a rental home. After going back during my freshmen year in college, that room seems tiny now.

My room was 5' x 13' & about 10' high. An odd shape, especially for two boys growing up with alot of toys. We managed to fit a bunkbed, a toychest, & a desk all in there. Plenty of room for posters. :)

Our room was about 15 x 12 for two of us.

You would be extremely rude and self centered if you were to complain about this. How about putting some of your stuff in a common space?

yes complain, i complained when we moved and i got the 2nd biggest bedroom in the house

my current room in my apt is about 12x12 and i have a double bed, 2 dressers, a shelf and a table/desk that is big enough to house dual 19in CRTs and other sh!t with plenty of "desk" space

my room when i was 0-12 was small but had a loft so it was ok, and i was lil so it didnt matter, the next house from 13-14 was smaller with 1 floor, that didnt matter much either all it had was a bed, desk, dresser, from 15-16 it was about 15x15, and just had a bed desk and dresser in it and sometimes a TV when i dragged it in there
from 16-22 it was 18x22, whihc i must say was pretty awsome as i had a bed, desk, comp desk (same i have now), a TV setup with 6.1 sorround sound, 2 5ft tall bookcases and another smaller tv and another computer desk, as well as a couch, and deck chair

When I was a kid, my bedroom was 10x12 or so and I fit a twin bed, desk, bookshelf, dresser, tv stand, futon and a crib (for my parents' foster kids). Then I went to college and took the smallest room in the house for when I came home for the summer-- that room was 8x9 or so.

So no complaining. Cut back a bit-- why not put your fish tank or your tv on your dresser?

When I was young, I had a 12x12 room.

When I moved into my new house, I had 12x17 room, and when I moved into the dorms it was 12x18, and I thought it was nothing special. I remember people talking about their apartments being big, and I would be like "as big as this dorm room?" They would be like uhh of course not, but big, and I would be like WTF That's tiny...

12x17 was so friggn nice. I could have sleepovers with all my friends in there too (hey I used to do this in 6th grade).

My apartment is 13 x 10 or so now. I got a 6 foot folding desk in front of me and a bunk bed right behind me. Talk about tiny huh?

I have no idea how big my room is... a rough guess looking at my 12" clock would be...10x15... It's a roof over your head, stfu.

I guess you are guys are right. It is not that. However, I do have a minor anxiety problem so cramped spaces can literally drive me crazy.

my son's room (he's 18) is about 9x11.. he's survived in it for 14 years without too much suffering..

course he doesn't have to fit so much stuff in it .. there's no cable upstairs because I don't believe tv's or computers belong in bedrooms.

(maybe a little perspective will help :p)
