How big of a PS for a 1.2ghz tbird?

How big of a PS for a 1.2ghz tbird, I have a 300w but don't know if I should get a 400.

It depends on how much stuff you have in your PC besides CPU(HD,CD..).
Normally 300W is enough to run CD,CDRW, 2 HD and 3-4 fans.

If it's 300 watt and AMD approved it should be fine, as long as you don't have a HUGE amount of devices. Maybe you should say what drives, fans, Vid card, and other stuff you got. Most normal systems should be ok, you would need a system crazy on drives and fans to need alot more than 300 watts.

i'm pretty sure 300's enough. check if your ps is compatible w/ it under amd's site. they don't list my 300watt antec power supply but it works. [i have a 1.1ghz]. also i agree w/ rmd that there are other factors to consider.

[offtopic] rmd...why do you have such a nice system but such a crappy internet connection. you have a 56k modem? if i were you i would've spent some of that money you had in the comp towards a cable modem or $20 dsl if it's in your area. maybe you have the same problem w/ my friend, where his phone lines only let him connect at 28.8 w/ a 56k 3com.

just 1 HD 2 cd rom drives 4 fans geforce 2 64mb sb live. My PS is on the AMD approved list but not for a tbird 1.2. Also the enermax 450 is not on the list for tbird 1.2.

Your 300watter shoudl be fine.
BTW: an Enermax 450 will power almost anything

I've got i gig tbird. I thought I could put any number of devices the case could hold on my pc, until I see this piece on PcWorld.
Next figures are from the mag.
Pentium II and III-----30w
Motherboard -----------20w
64mb Ram---------------5w
Hard drive-------------25w
FDD--------------------5w
Zip drive--------------10w
CD drive---------------25w
3D Graphics card w/8 or more ram-----20w
Sound card-------------7w
Each additional card---5w
Plus the case fans
Multiply the sum by 1.3 to be in safe side.

My question is that if the system ram needs 5w for 64mb, does it mean my 256mb of ram needs 20w?
