How big of a partition for windows xp pro?

I want this partition to be only for windows xp files. With this being the case, whats a good size? Is 10GB about right? or is that excess? Like I said above though, I won't put anything on this except for windows.

Could be a space problem if you're authoring or burning DVDs with an app that insists on using temp folders on C: -- then you could potentailly need another 5 - 9 GB (dual layer).

I'm going to make another drive for apps... i dont have a dvd burned so thats not an issue for me... i could always change it with partition magic later on...

Then 5 is quite enough. If you have any space problem with 5 (wich I highly doubt), you can always move windows swap file to an other directory.

Just to clarify my other post, the swap file can become amazingly big if you play memory hug games. In that case, if you don't have much memory <500 the system will up the swap file to the level requiered by the game. Sometimes, swap file can go beyond 1 gig depending on what program are running on the comp.

This swapping can be configured to reside on any drive and to use a min max amount of memory.
