I just noticed today for the first time that the backstop at Safeco Field is all in Japanese, which, considering it's in an America stadium, and it's a game being broadcasted in America to hundreds of thousands of Americans..that that is pretty amazing considering the Japanese probably don't root for the Mariners, but just Ichiro, and the other couple of Japanese guys they have on the team.

Insane.

There are branches of Japanese TV stations in Seattle, and their sole purpose is to broadcast Mariners game live to Japan so they can watch Ichiro...

Well, you gotta take in to consideration how bad the M's suck this year and the fact that the only good thing right now is HiTchiro.

Hideki Matsui is much bigger, I hear. The announcers during one game were trying to drive home the point and said something like "imagine Michael Jordan in the Bulls' glory years and multiply that by 10" :Q Surprising because while he's certainly been good, Ichiro is phenomenal.
