How best update my motherboard drivers

I have an Asus A8N-E motherboard. So far, I have only used the drivers
that came with the mobo (on CD).

I would like to update to the latest drivers, but am not sure how to proceed.
Do I update the chipset drivers first? (NVIDIA nF4) ... and then get a new version
of the BIOS?

...and where is the best place to download the mobo drivers from?
 
Do the drivers you have work fine? Wouldn't update if they do unless there is a problem the drivers fix.
 
I never installed the drivers from the CD. I had installed the latest at that time, 6.53 I think or 6.3x something. I am very happy with the combination of the latest nVidia chipset drivers 6.70 and display 81.95. Very nice and snappy over my earlier 6.66 chipset and 77.77s display. Not that I had any major issues with them.

OdiN is right. If everything is working ok, just let things lie.

That being said, if you do want to update, do check your bios version also. Asus says not to use lower than 1006 bios with newer chipset drivers and vice versa also. What I would do is this:

1. Backup all data and download Bios from Asus's website and display and chipset drivers from nVidia's site.
2. Uninstall the display drivers using add/remove programs. Ensure you have disabled your anti-virus/firewall and disconnected from the Internet before this.
3. Cancel the found new hardware and uninstall the chipset drivers similarly and re-boot.
4. Flash to the latest non-beta bios, I think it is 1008. People are happy with the 1010.003 beta also. Do this using a floppy and follow the instructions on Asus's site. Enter bios setup after the re-boot (do not let OS load), load setup defaults save and exit and after re-boot again enter bios setup and change your settings to what they were before - e.g. if you have sound card, disable on-board sound, etc.
5. Install the chipset drivers - run the exe.
6. Install the display drivers - run the exe.
7. Re-enable your anti-virus and firewall, etc.

The reason I'm interested in drivers is that I just installed the latest ones for
my video card. The old ones gave a 3dMark05 score of 4025, and with the new
drivers, I scored 4892 - about 20% increase in performance. If I can get this kind
of upgrade from the motherboard drivers, I'll be laughing.
