How best to measure height needed for CPU cooler?

I want to buy this CPU cooler https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...als LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&Item=35-103-253&cm_sp=

and newegg lists the height as 158.50 mm. I took a ruler to the inside of my Be Quiet Pure Base 600 case and hitting a spot the existing cooler is using i came out with a measurement of just over 16 cm. Do i need to take my current cooler off my CPU to get an accurate measurement? This is not the largest CPU heatsink and fan so it should fit right?

Awesome, thanks for finding that. I wish I would have found that info before having to beg others but it was not in the manual i checked.

How do people do it with RAM clearance, is it a try and see issue?
