Girl stomped by bull -- no problem!
Eating cow brains -- really safe-- of course it is!
Next up? -- Eating glass?

But seriously, I keep waiting for one of those lines to break and for someone to take a 100 foot fall and get smacked by some huge metal beam or car or something.

ok -- now for the next challenge -- and if any of you refuse you are out -- is to eat the body of the contestant that died in the last challenge............

The thing that gets me is they do this crap for 50K. Make it 100K and I might try it but 50K is a little less then what I would do some of that stuff for.

the important question is when are they going to stop showing this crap and when are they going to start showing what people really want to see, which is: pr0n!

It might very well take someone getting killed. That dude on one of the Survivor runs got royally fvcked up falling into a fire, but they showed that and that's still going strong.

Well they do say that every one of their stunts is 100% safe. They've been tested by stuntment or whatever. I can't imagine how much they would be sued for if one of their contestants died.

All of the challenges have been relatively benign from my perspective. There is always the risk of getting banged up a little, maybe fracturing an ankle or something, but there isn't a lot of excessive risk going on. There are a lot of safety checks happening behind the scenes and they consult with experts about the safety of eating various items. Some of the things they eat are boiled when microbial and parasitic risk is intolerably high.

There's more going on psychologically there than excessive degrees of actual risk. There is always the chance of some freak accident, but then that is true just sitting in your home watching TV.

They are obviously made to sign a waiver or something and are aware of the risks.

good point. hehe.

I am sure if someone was killed (or even seriously hurt) on one of these shows, we would see it all over the headlines already...

I've said it since these shows started getting popular, we're only a step or two away from having a show like in the movie "running man" Sad thing is, I'd probably watch it at least once

tcsenter makes a good point about the safety stuff.

I would only watch it if it was like the book version of The Running Man. The movie was stupid.

That wouldn't ease my mind much.

Just because that guy running from the chicken in the Nike commercial can jump off a building and tuck the landing into a roll and then continue running doesn't mean it's safe for me! ;)

You got a problem with eating brains? Man, I eat cow brains all the time. Granted, its considered a fine dish in my culture. We fry cow brains with onions and sometimes make it with eggs.

<== vietnamese

You dont' even have to go to a vietnamese supermarket or anything to get it. Its not as common, but I see cow brains for sale at my local Stater Bros. I'm pretty sure that all of the contestants have to sign a waiver before going on the show. Besides, everything is kinda dangerous, but nothing some crazy mofo out there wouldn't try on his own just for fun. ALso, no, I don't watch the show. I just see some of the crap they do when I'm flipping channels and I think its hilarious. Another thing they had to eat, boiled eggs where the chick has already formed? My mom and older brother can scarf those down like theres no tomorrow. The egg yolk is pretty damn good. I just need a little salt and pepper to go with the rest of em and I don't quite like chewing on the formed chick that much.

Sure, cooked! But those freakin' things were raw. I mean, let me chop em' up, throw in some mozarella, cheddar, jack, some roasted new mexico chiles and a warm tortilla and I might enjoy a nice brain quesadilla, but I'll pass on raw.:)
