How badly can you possibly listen? And can you misquote any more severely?

Hey all,

Man oh man.. No matter WHICH candidate you were for in tonight's debate, I think we should ALL be outraged by that lady in the discussion afterwards on CNN who claimed REPEATEDLY that GWB said "Healthy children don't need health insurance." She was "outraged" by him saying this. What a shame, considering he didn't say it AT ALL. --And even after 3 OTHER audience members corrected her and said she was incorrect and misquoting, she maintained that he said the words "Healthy children do not need health insurance."

Geez. Could she REALLY have misconstrued what he said THAT BADLY, or does anyone else think she wasn't really a "swing voter" and undecided?

A member of a CNN discussion group? Likely a "seminar" plant ... I hardly watch CNN any more. FOX News + a dab of MSNBC for balance

She's a bleeding heart liberal that swoons over the man who invented the internet.
Besides - healthy children DON'T need health insurance. :Q

I was thinking about the "plant" thing too.... But then I stopped because I am not a very conspiracy-minded person. Whether she was put there by someone to badmouth Bush or whether she was a "lone gunman", I have NO DOUBT she was heavily prejudiced, and was only there to find something to shoot Bush down with and to do so on TV. Unfortunately, she wasn't very intelligent, or at best was a terrible listener, because the thing she picked to blow up on was based on a TOTAL misqote and was a LUDICROUS twist of facts, reason, and any rationality. What a fool.
I think she did the whole group a grave injustice by speaking up like she did.

Actually healthy children would benefit from catastrophic coverage (for serious accidents and possible yet-undetected illnesses), but not from the government.

What did Bush actually say?

What he said was read my heart, I have a good one. It's a fantastic plan for America. I bought it hook line and sinker.

Moonbeam, this thread isn't about politics. It's about the lady after the debate. --So fsck off.

What he said was that there are many young working people who can afford insurance, but because of their young age and good health, they decide they don't need insurance. --And in order to convince these people to get insurance, we will have to be able to offer them something that would interest them, like treating insurance more like an investment, like they could invest in an insurance account like a stock. It had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with ANYONE not needing insurance. In fact, he was implying that those who think they don't need it actually DO, and need to be convinced to get it if they can afford it. The "young people" and their "youth" was what this lady was saying "children" in the place of, and "they think they don't need insurance" was what she was saying "they don't need insurance" in place of.

So, when he was actually saying there were some relatively young people who opted out of insurance because they didn't think they needed it, this lady claimed he was saying "Healthy children don't need insurance." Geez. What a ridiculous twist.

Yza, you probably lost your voting rights because of a result of your own actions. Don't blame someone else for your own stupidity.

Yza,

You need to learn to speak proper english or at least something that resembles it. People will pay a little more attention to your moaning then.

I had just typed out a whole big story but decided you aren't worth the bandwidth.
