How bad is this 3DMark2001 score?

Okay.. here are my system specs :-

Athlon XP 1800+ (not overclocked)
512mb Crucial PC2100 ram (Cas 2, fastest setting)
Leadtek Winfast GeForce 3 Ti 200 TDH 64mb graphics card (not overclocked)
Abit KR7A-Raid mobo

I ran 3DMark2001 on 1024x764 (32-bit) and the score I got was only 6591. I tried changing the aperture size on my bios to 128mb / 256mb without much effect on the score.

Is my score considered low? I know little about 3D graphics. I might be downloading Riva Tuner later to see if I can tune-up the performance and perhaps try overclocking it. Any advice on how I can improve the score?

Only? That's the average for your hardware configuration. Know that 3Dmark is a synthetic benchmark that doesn't necessarily translate to actual performance. For example, the Radeon 8500 always dominates in 3Dmark test owing to its extremely fast and powerful hardware, but we know that due to its crappy drivers the GF3 Ti500 bests it.

Oh? And I thought I was supposed to be getting > 7000+. Heheh.. told you I know little about 3D graphics. :) Oh well, so far I am pretty satisfied with the performance of the card. Everything is moving along smoothly even at the highest setting. Could never get that with my GTS Pro card. A different league altogether. Glad I invested in this card. Thanks anyway guys.

By the way, just wondering, if I use the nvidia reference drivers instead of the drivers that came with my card, would I lose the capability to use any of the extra features that came with my card (e.g. DVI)??

you shouldn't loose anything with that card and the reference drivers. the only time you have to worry about stuff like that is when the card has non reference features. with stock speeds on my card, i got similar scores to yours. however, i got 1000 extra points oc'ing my visiontek card from 174/400 to 240/520 (not that i care about 3dmark). if you are really that concerned, then overclock! oh, i also got a big increase going to the 22.5 detenators. i haven't tried the 23.11's yet, but if you are using the 21.83's i would really try a different driver.

The driver that came with the card was 2.1.8.3 (dated some time in September). Since it's quite old, I am thinking of downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia's website (having trouble accessing leadtek's website). However, I have heard that the latest drivers are problematic and the best drivers are still the 2.1.8.3. Anyone care to comment on this??

Of all the new drivers including the 23.xx, I found the 22.80 to be the fastest with greatest stability. The 23.xx are just a wee bit faster, but I found them to be slightly unstable.
