How bad is rush hour in chicago on I-55 South to St. Louis?

Well, I've never been that far west, but the words "rush hour" lead me to assume that it's like any other highway during rush hour, i.e. bad.

From downtown it's among the worst congested at rush hour. I'd definitely get on I55 no later than 3pm, 2pm is even better.

can't speak for I-55 but 294 going south in the morning past Ohare takes me about 2 hours and another 3 in the evening. And that's going around the city, I would imagine going through it with all the early summer construction is probably horrendous.
