Each shot is worth about 50-60mg of caffeine compared to 100-115mg from 6 ounces of your typical drip brewed coffee.

Unless you're breast feeding or pregnant, you should be fine with 250-300mg in a day. If you are breast feeding or pregnant, ask your ob/gyn.

The only thing that might happen is dehydration. After or during the drinking of the shots you need to make sure you drink plenty of water. I'll start my day with about 6 shots on ice with half-n-half. Then drink water the rest of the day.

Espresso is just coffee that's made by shooting a bunch of hot water through (as opposed to dripping) the ground coffee beans. Otherwise, it's no different than drinking an equivalent amount of drip coffee.

This is incorrect, it has on average much less caffeine than drip. It's actually closer to the caffeine content of instant.

I used to take 400mg of caffeine (pill form) prior to working out. While caffeien certainly helped as an energy booster, the side effects were not pleasant (GI upset was the worst). At 200 mg, the symptoms were not present, or very mild at worst.

It's not bad for your health at all.

It actualy may be good for you. Coffee contains beneficial compounds like anti oxidants, amogst other things.

A shot of espresso has roughly 60mg of caffeine. Let's say it's 70 for good measure.

70 * 5 = 350mg.

Weak sauce.

Try 1000mg sometime. ;)

Do you realize if you had your coffee in the morning at home you'd have an extra $100+ a month to spend or invest?

I've been thinking of getting my own espresso machine and leaving it at work, but they're all so damn expensive. The cheapest is some $30 one at walmart, but I doubt its any good.
