Just don't stick your nose right to it and you'll be okay.

It's got a nice nostril cleaning property to it, but once it's diluted it's tolerable.

It can be nasty if you get a big wiff of it, but otherwise it is OK. I use it all the time to clean rusty metal. It is great for bolts. When I am done with it I throw it on the limestone stones on the driveway. It foams up and smokes - I am easily amused. It can cause your hands to itch if you touch it and I recommend keeping water handy.

i decided to try it
i setup the 20" box fan on one end of the basement for ventilation and to dry the floor faster

used a regular sponge mop instead of a hand brush

poured in about half of what it said to use on the bottle OUTSIDE and i can't even smell it down here

thanks ATOT ! :)

AHHHHHHHHH. We have a saying here: HCL + NaOH = Your death.

Don't mix with a strong base. Don't spill it on yourself... watch your eyes... wear goggles and appropriate clothes.

It's HCL.

It will burn your nosehairs in vapor--- for real.:Q

HCl is pretty acidic. If you were to lean over a bottle of concentrated stuff, just one whiff would pretty much make you reel back in pain. If you were around something that's say 1-2%, tolerable. BS in Chemistry paid off in the ATOT threads.

general dirt/oooold paint

it helped, it really needs to be painted over with REAL concrete paint (this crap i'm cleaning off isn't the right kind of paint for a floor), but i just bought a chuck of cheapo astro-turf to throw onto it instead :D

Muratic acid is hydrogen cloride gas in water. The hydrogen cloride will evaproate out into your nose where it will form new muratic acid. Thus can it burn you. It will react with the cement, etching and cleaning it in the process, and rendering it harmless.

That the same stuff you put in pools. I have a pool, and I think it smells pretty damn bad out of the bottle.

I did an experiment once (for school), and I had to poor some down the sink, and I could hear it eating away at it.

yes, the bottle also has instructions on using it to lower the pH in your pool

when i took the cap off it and got a whiff , thats when i thought i better ask/post about it, stanky!

Yeah, HCl reacts pretty well with calcium carbonate (the stuff that is hard water deposits). In the chemistry lab we'd use it to clean the coffee maker and coffee cups. Nothing really harmful about what it does to inert things.
