I think that was karma coming back to bite him in the azz for buying a GM diesel. (Guessing it was a 350)

Almost did that to a crappy little ford festiva rental on the Alaskan haul road to the north slope. Stopped in a little place called Cold Foot about 50 miles N. of the Artic Circle. Pumps had 2 nozzles. Typically in the US, the diesel nozzle is green, so I tried to put the other one in, but it was to big to fit. The labels on the pump were barely legible. One of the attendents there said something like "Yea, people do that all the time, we just dropped the tank on a diesel pickup last week after he pumped gas into it."

When we came back, we had to get a new tire, and there was a nice new dodge diesel pickup sitting in the shop. Got to talking to the guy, and turned out he did the same thing ... put the green nozzle in, and pumped gas into it. So they were dropping the tank to drain it ... was gonna cost him several hundred. But this is a place where they charge about $5 each way for towing, and it's about 175 miles from Fairbanks. I think the whole thing was a scam by that place to make money off the tourists ... if it was happening all the time, you'd think they would label ot better.

One advantage of the Oregon Law, "no self service!"

Actually, probably the ONLY advantage....

I dunno ... you trust some yahoo pumping gas for a living to notice the diesel sticker and not screw it up? I'd do it myself thank you.

A: If he does it for a living, chances are he knows what he's doing.
B: If he DOES screw up, HE get's to pay to have your tank drained!

The best way to repair this is to have her stuff an oily rag in to the gas hole and light it on fire. This will quickly purge all of the unwanted deisel fuel from her Tahoe.

i concur

do you concur doctor? I do.

A: The guys I remember from my H.S. that had jobs pumping gas (as opposed to working in the shop) at the local stations were doing it because they were to stupid to get a job at the Dairy Queen.

B: Yup, hopefully.

Around here the Diesel is usually on seperate pumps from the unleaded. Diesel is usually green and the rest is black/silver/gold whatever for the different grades.

Whatyou can do is to get a small plastic tube....

put it into the gas tank...and then get a syphon pump thingy... get several large containers (as many as needed to hold amount of diesel gas pumped.)

Then pump it and make sure the other end of the tube lower than the car.... this effectively uses gravity to pump most of the gas out.

Then put regular gasoline and try to start it up.

Good luck.
