How are you cooking your turkey? (i.e. give away your secrets)

I shoot up the bird (syringe) with blueberry/pomegranante/blackberry juice and butter, then coat the bird in that, then put a layer of thin applesauce for moisture. I also baste lightly with juice throughout the cooking process. Garnish with fresh pomegrante seeds.

Last year I used orange juice instead of blueberry/pomegranate/blackberry, and stuffed with oranges, apples, celery, bread crumbs, and some juice for moisture. It was delicious 😎

P.S. How long in the oven for a 20 pounder?

Picked one up at my local grocery store for $2 tonight.

I have a 20 pounder also. I figure it will take about 6 1/2, 7 hours. That is how long it took last year. 30 minutes a pound is what the cook books say. They are gonna give you a rough average, since they can't consider all of the variables.

I cheated and bought a smoked turkey, from a top notch smoke house. Now I just need to know how long to heat it up and what temp to use. Stupid thing didnt come with directions.

Eat it cold.

I saw some guy on teevee who took a little cloth soaked it in turkey broth, and covered the breast of the turkey with it. Put it in the oven and just resoaked it every 1/2 hour. He took it off 1/2 hour b4 done.
He Swears that it keeps it moist.

First I go out and get a fresh bird. I bring it home, set it on the couch, then I pour it a nice glass of wine. I turn on the television, nothing to risky to start with of course, maybe a nice west-wing rerun. About half way through I like to run my fingers through its feathers, if the mood is right. About then it notices my pockets are filled with seed...

Oh yeah, I love Thanksgiving...

Brine that butterball for 24 to 36 hours in the fridge.

Cook it at 500 F for 30 minutes with a sheet of aluminum foil covering the breast.

Remove the aluminum, lower your oven to 350 F, cook the bird until the thigh is around 175 F.

Remove for the oven and allow to rest for 30 minutes.

I have heavy cream. Think I should use it on the turkey? If so, how?

I'm not at all familiar with cream and its uses so plz educate my ignorant self, thx 🙂

Good thing we don't have the custom here of buying a hugely oversized turkey and then still eating turkey 3 months later (UK).
Nor buying one hugely oversized turkey per person, eating it within half an hour, drinking an extra large diet Coke with it, and complaining it must be the Coke which caused you to go from 450lbs to 460lbs (USA).

You do seem to have a custom of talking out of your ass about things you don't know about though.

Yuk yuk yuk. Did it ever occur to you that we're thankful for getting away from the likes of you? 😉

I ordered an older Althlon XP, going to mount the turkey to the processor and play some Halo to help cook the turkey quickly. 😀

If you wanted true heating capacity you would have ordered pre-XP processors.
