How are we going to pay for new security from federal agencies if we can hardly pay for last years' programs after that tax cut? If I'm incorrect, and we acually have excess money for things like this, please let me know.

Go, George W. Bush. It's easy. The country will borrow money, as usual, and we'll just make the deficit bigger.

"<< Insurance? >> ...for the building? "

I wonder how the insurance companies will look at this. I know my homeowners policy says I'm not covered during an act of terrorism or war. I saw on CNBC they said the damage is estimated at $15 Billion. The same as in hurricane Andrew several years back.

It's not the tax cut's fault. This disaster serves to remind us that expensive new permanent entitlements like Prescription Drugs For Seniors(TM) is economic folly.

Maybe we'll call in some of the money we've loaned to "deadbeat" coutries...

Or we'll print more...

Social Security is going to be gone before 30yr olds get it anyway.

There is money all over, maybe some Senators will not get their PORK this year.
Maybe we will stop giving money to the ARTS, and make the artists work on the building.

The government will help rebuild. Companies in the WTC were covered by insurance, and if not, the government will help them rebuild. Ever hear of FEMA? They will step in and provide enough money to make sure everything goes back to the way it was before (as far as the companies are concerned). The gov will borrow money from the citizens, and eventually pay it back (ever heard of savings bonds?) Everything will be OK. There will be no depression. The economy will be fine, and it will be business as usually before we know it. However, NO ONE will forget what happened yesterday.
