I need to add wireless in a pinch to an old desktop with only the slower USB 1.0/1.1 ports. It's for temporary use only and so I want to spend as little as possible.
I was wondering if there was any disadvantage going with a USB 1.1 adapter over a PCI adapter. I'll be connecting to an 802.11b network but the throughput on USB 1.1 is pretty slow.
I don't think signal strength will be an issue, but if the USB solution will be a good deal slower (because of througput limitiations) than the PCI one, then I guess I'd have to go with PCI.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
