Yea..the MTA is hiking up the Metrocard weekly, monthly pass fares. What a joke..they are not even worth getting now unless you are a serious traveler or something.

even if you're a constant commuter, if you calc. your yearly expenses on the MTA against a yearly expensive for an automobile its about the same price.

car would also get you to your destination faster if you know your highways

midtown traffic will still rape you...

and 76 * 12 = $912....my car payments is 300 a month...then gas and maintenance, and insurance....i think i rather take the train....

Well, Knicks are in first and the Jets are in the playoffs. Those are certainly new developments. 🙂 Randy Johnson's a Yankee, and Carlos Beltran and Pedro Martinez are Mets. They're still considering the West Side Stadium proposal and they've started work on the Freedom Tower. It's also been really weird weather. Hot and cold from week to week. This week has been unusually warm, whereas last week was your more typical NYC winter. Billy Crystal's one man show opened up and it's pretty good - funny with a wistful kind of nostalgia at the same time. They're closing a bunch of historic movie theatres in different parts of the city. And sadly another piece of NYC faded away when Jerry Orbach passed away. 🙁

Foggy, and cooling off a bit this afternoon (mid 40s).

In other news, MoMA recently returned to the city from its brief hiatus in LIC (Queens). Now near 5th Ave and the mid W 50s (can't recall exactly).

cab fares just rose last may. why would they be raised again?

i was in a cab last year (mid-march) with this smelly cab driver and was sitting in the backseat on my way to la guardia airport. the guy was listening to the radio, and the sound was faint. then the newscaster announced a raise in cab fares to occur in may (they did). the driver literally turned the radio volume up so high to make sure i heard that. butthead. :|

here's a good site for nyc news: www.gothamist.com

i love this place.
