They've been shipping for six months or more. How can there not be refurbished Centrino laptops already?

A friend of mine that is a programmer at Dell said that Dell's definition of refurbished is for instance a company ordered a hundred computers and decided (after shippment) that they only needed 75, regardless if the box was opened or not, the returned computers are now classified as refurbished.

At least I think that was what he told me a while ago.

As basically stated before, refurbished can mean any levels of issues with the laptop. Anything as simple as a scratch on the case or Missing pixel on the LCD that gets swapped out to as serious as the hard drive failing or the whole motherboad needing replaced.

Sometimes you get machines purchased that get sent back or people just don't like the speed and decide to get another model. It's all relative.

If they were returned defective, they fix them and then sell them as refurbished. If they were jsut returned cause the customer decided he didn't want it, they just sell it again as refurbished.
