How are the torsion bars held in place?

I'm currently working to replace the torsion bars on a 1992 Chevy K1500 truck. Each end of the torsion bar is a hex shape. The hole on the front lower control arm where the torsion bar goes through is a through-hole. How is the torsion bar kept in place once installed? If it were not for the rust won't the torsion bar work its way forward eventually?
