How are the PS3 Move and XBOX Kinect doing?

Now that all the hoopla has died down I was wondering how the Move and Kinect are actually doing? Have they gone the way of the Wii or are they truly different and people are really using them?

Kinect is outselling Move 5 to 1. a general average i'm sure. I suspect kinect will always be around the xbox line and continue to improve in accuracy and hardware size.. The Move however looks like something that will eventually die, but time will tell.
Can't say i'm too hopeful of the Wii U if their still gonna come out with that funky monkey controller.

ONe things for sure, MS has been bragging about sales, Nintendo and Sony hasnt said a word. SOny asked NPD not to publically display sales any more. it certainly seems as if Move is moving towards failure.

Kinect will only continue to sell if games are released. After the initial wave of games i havent seen anything worth while. Kids have lost interest.

I thought the Move had great motion sensing and I would have bought it if it wasn't for such a steep price tag, but the kinect is more practical.

The Kinect has moved beyond just a game controller at this point, as MS is releasing (might already be released?) an SDK for Windows development for the Kinect. MS has always had various projects going on in their MS Research division for different computer-user interaction paradigms, and working on how to integrate the PC into your home in different ways (computer in the fridge, the coffee table computer [can't remember what it's called], etc.). The Kinect is only going to get bigger and bigger.

The Move has been heavily discounted, and seems to me to be a dismal failure. I own a PS3 and I doubt I will ever buy the Move. I plan to buy an Xbox 360 for Christmas solely to be able to play Kinect games. The Wii is dead in almost all respects to me, though I will buy games for it that are exclusives that are rated 10/10 (I plan to buy the new Zelda, for instance). I doubt I will be buying the WiiU unless there is a *very* compelling game that I really want to play on it.

This is the FTW for Kinect. If you looked at all the stuff modders have done with the Kinect just by hacking or modding it without any official SDK tools like M$ will soon be releasing, the amount of development possible once the SDK is released will be an order of magnitude higher.

The Kinect stuff not related in any way to the 360 is badass. People are doing amazing things.

I'm pretty sure the only Move product I've even seen recently was that silly gun.

My wife uses the Kinect for excercise stuff several times a week. Other than that, we don't use it that much. Dance Central is good for making a fool out of yourself for parties 😀.

People are still interested in the Kinect with all of the things people are developing. Apparently, from what I read, the Kinect is much more powerful than what MS used it for, for games. People are developing things to recognize individual fingers etc etc.

If I recall, the issue with the 360 doing more with Kinect comes down to processing power. Newer computers have tons of it, but the 360... not so much (especially when you consider that they're also running a game).

i bet the next version of kinect will be a lot smaller and likely included in the next xbox. But either way i think we'll see a lot of various uses of it outside of xbox in the comming years.
But i'll likely still always prefer an actual gamepad, i don't really care for moving my arms about due to arthritis in my elbows and wrists.

Same here. Bought it for my wife as she really wanted it for Dance Central. I have only used it a few times with either DC or the sports game. Mostly used when brothers are over and we feel like making fools out of ourselves. I dont see myself using it for any other games like with Forza 4. I know you can use it but I could care less.

sony has virtually given up on the move. the move has been on clearance everywhere pretty much for the past few months. they've pretty much given up on the six axis as well.

both of their decisions are strongly welcome by me.

Well, knowing Sony, they'll come out with a kinect clone just like when they back tracked on rumble. They also took a stab at xbl with Playstation home, although that kind of failed too. I really hope they team up with MS for the next gen.

though i have long hoped for that too, i know it wont. I think its more about branding and getting that brand known more than anything.
I think they would both be far more profitable though, you would think from a business perspective that doing such would be a good idea

Someone should necro that old thread talking about how Kinect and Move were going to change the industry. I'll go ahead and say that myself and many other of the nay-sayers were right 😛
