How are the old thinkpad T61's X61's??

I have a choice between a samsung nc110 netbook and a used T61 thinkpad. Both will need a memory upgrade from 1GB to 2GB+.

Any issues with these old laptops? Overheating? Can they boot from USB? The thinkpads are cheaper than the netbook and probably more suitable due to the larger 14" screen so it would be good to know about them.

Since my T60 currently runs Win 7 with 2 GB, and it can boot from a thumb drive, I would have to assume the newer T61 could also.

Never had it over heat. It is my backup lappy to my T510.
