How are the bluetooth wireless keyboard/mice combos?

It looks as if the girlfriend will be getting me a new desk for Christmas. It will be the nice L-shaped glass desk from OfficeMax, which I've had my eye on for well over a year now. My only problem with it is that with it being mostly glass, I don't want to be able to see wires running everywhere, so I want to cut down on this.

The logical first step is to go wireless with my kb/mouse. I've been happily using my MS Office keyboard and Intellimouse 3.0 for a while now, and I really hate to let them go from my main comp. One of my main concerns with going wireless, though, is the tracking of a wireless mouse. I game a lot on my comp, and I want precise results, something you can't get with wireless mice. I know Logitech has released their Laser mouse, which claims to track equal to a corded mouse, which I really like. But they don't offer it with a keyboard (yet).

So my only other thought was to go with Bluetooth. I know nothing about Bluetooth, so I get what I need to know are the basics, such as reliability of signal, the tracking power of the mice (is it much better than RF), and the battery life. Also, which set is better right now, Microsoft's or Logitech's?

Thanks.

Bluetooth is a relatively new technology so I have run into some issues with drivers and such.

I have not tried the Keyboard/ mouse thing and the only things I have messed with are the Ipaq and a medical device that I support :)

I can say that the issues we have had have been minor and that some USB dongles work with some devices while others do not.

We have found that there sometimes is not any noticible reason for dropped connections and therefore have not yet nailed down the root cause. They do occasionally occure and changing the dongle/ reloading the drivers seems to take care of the majorities of issues.

I have also found that resources and support for Bluetooth have been minimal at best and then non exsistant at worst. I would look at the logitech or MS NON BT set-up before going bluetooth unless you have other devices that will connect via Bluetooth.
