How are teac drives

I have before only bought teac floppy drives and have no idea how the CD-roms work.... I got an opportunity to get some of them pretty cheap, but am wondering if they are cheap for a reason... what do you guys say? Good deal or not? (19 for a 42 cd-rom and 58 for a 12x burner)

They are of some of the highest quality CD drivers you can get. It didnt make sense to me because TEAC drives have always been relatively expensive, but if you got them for cheap, good for you.

got a 24x in 97 for a p00ter. heavy use and the thing still works like a champ. was the cheapest drive i could find at the time also. id definately buy another.

Teac CDRW 12x and up are some of the best out there. There are older 12x models that don't have burn-proof (model no. ends in E) the newer 12x with burn-proof end in EB. They are both equally good, you just have to not do anything else while you burn if you get the older model.
. Not familiar with their plain CD-ROM drives.
. You should post this in the Hot Deals section if there are more than a few available.

some little add from me.
TEAC CDROMS are very nice and quiet too.

the 12X burner is also a very nice piece of hardware, but make sure it's the one with burnproof, cause there exists another 12X crap-model without burnproof.

btw, the CDROM should be 40X, otherwise it's not a TEAC.

The TEAC 540E is prob my fav now, replacing the Toshiba, especially since the new firmware update came out. Very nice drawer action, not "clumpy" like the mistumi. There really isnt much to pick from - tho you could also get the fine liteon DVD and use it as CDRom.

Bleh, found out why they so cheap... refurbs.... darn it... was about to post on deal..... bt the new price not so bad...
