How are Seagate 2.5" drives right now?

How are Seagate hard drives right now for 2.5" internal drives? I've recently bought two Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB and they were both quite bad (Loud clicking sounds, indicating near-death of the drive.).

In the past, I've heard that Seagate drives were not that good, but are they still that bad right now?

I'm still VERY wary of Seagate HD's. Most of their drives that I've encountered in the last 5 years or so just don't seem very reliable. Most of them seem to slowly collect bad sectors and eventually just go belly up. Seagate's reliability seems to have taken a nosedive after the Barracuda IV/V lines.

I've had pretty good luck with Western Digital drives (mostly Black but also a few blue 2.5" drives). From what I've read I would not touch their Green drives. Are you sure the noise you heard is indicating a problem and not just their normal sound?

Alright thanks for the reply.

It is definitely not a normal sound. It is a loud stutter and clacking sound, and from my (very very limited) experience, it is not a good sign.

A few years back, my Hitachi drive had similar sounds, albeit softer and more frequent, and it crashed 9 months after installing it in my laptop.

Also, it happens while I am browsing through the file-structure/file-tree of the hard drive using Finder (On Mac).
