I haven't overclocked anything since CPU's hit the 1 Ghz mark because I didn't feel I needed to for a while. I was more into running 2 CPU's which is standard now. I done a lot of research before buying anything and I am very pleased with the outcome, I just hope I am not overdoing any voltages or screwing up in general.
Here is my system (Huge upgrade compared to old system)
Abit P-35-E
E8400 running 400 x 9 FSB @ 3.6 Ghz
Tuniq Tower
4 x 2 gigs of GSkill PC-8000 ram (yes I know 8 gigs is an overkill)
Diamond ATI HD 3870 512 MB vid card
Corsair HX620 PS
Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
Running 100% stable for a couple of weeks now. Have ran prime 95 for a couple of hours with no problems. I haven't gotten around to memtest yet.
According to the Abit EQ program that reports temperatures my CPU never exceeds about 42C running Prime 95. I have no clue how accurate this is.
My settings are as follows:
Ram voltage is 2.1 (the specs for this ram) and is running at DDR2 800 speed.
CPU 400 FSB x 9
CPU Core Voltage 1.285
CPU VTT Voltage 1.2 (I have no clue what this setting is)
ICH = 1.5 volts
MCH = 1.29 volts
CPU GTL Relief 63% (Again I have no clue what this is)
PCI Express Frequency 100 Mhz (Should I change this?)
Do these setting seem reasonable and allow for a long machine life and good performance?
Any and all input is welcome and appreciated.
Also many thanks to everyone for all the information I have already got from this forum as well as the "Hot Deals" forum helping me to build this system.
Peace
Rich
