How are matsonic motherboards? One of my friends has one, I never heard of it. How are they? They are real cheap.

Their cheap... but that's about the only good thing I'll say for them. Unfortunately I've had lots of experience with their boards. They are extremely poor. Bad stability, bad performance, compatibility issues, etc.

I will note that the only 2 Socket7 boards of their I ever tested were okay though and DarkManX seems to have had a S7 Masonic board that worked.

In general I'd stay far far away from them however. Even for very cheap boards you can do better then Matsonic.

At least they have excellent RMA practices...

MY first PC i built with a 7070s matsonic board....Couldn't OC if its life depended on it. Also i was getting a oddball memory errors on boot up, but couldn't figure out what the hell it was for the life of me..

Not to mention that VXD errors were pretty common during the Matsonic days, when to a slightly better MOBO company(Abit - notice i said slightly..:)..) and haven't seen any yet..

Edit should acctually mention that i'm still using the board in my Linux Box..Works OK there, but it not exactly OC'ed.
