How are light colored cloth seats these days in regards to stains?

I may be interested in a 2011 Outback with ivory/off-white cloth seats. I have two young kids so I worry about stains.

Anyone have experiences?

Uh, there haven't really been any breakthroughs in stain prevention in recent years... I would assume that they would be about the same as they have been for the last 10 years.

I've never owned one, so I wouldn't know.

The colors I like come with ivory interiors. If I had to go with a black interior I don't like any of the exterior colors aside from the one I have now. I would end up leasing the same exact car I already have, just a year newer.

You don't like silver? Having dogs, I go with leather. So easy to clean up.

Quick question - the hatchback window doesn't open does it on the Outback?

Not really on the silver. I would prefer the dark red, brown, or maybe white. they all have the light interior.

No the window does not open separately from the rest of the hatch.

As someone who has worked as a cleaner for a rental company, I can say with certainty light coloured cloth seats are the devil's work. If it has an option for leather (or vinyl) seats, it's probably worth paying extra. Especially with kids involved. They just wipe clean.

I went to the website to check the colors, and for the life of me I can't find a pic of the front of the Outback. The main pages are all rear shots. I guess Subaru knows how ugly the Hyundai-esque droopy nose is.

Really? Good to know.

You want a brown car? What is this, the 70s?

Saw one on the highway and thought it looked good:

Ok, how about this then:

I really wish some of these colors would come with the black interior.

I actually like this, but i'm surprised it doesn't come in black. You sure about that?

EDIT: Well...just checked the subaru website, that seems to be a pretty stupid decision on their part.

Got a chance to sit in a blue OB at the dealership today, that ivory cloth is butt ugly. It's weird how the upper half of the cabin is black/gray and the lower ivory. The cloth pattern is ugly and the weave of the cloth looks like a magnet for picking up dirt as the cloth is not even smooth.

Another question - do you find the engine noise on the 4 cylinder annoying? It annoyed the hell out of me.

The boxer is a little louder than other four cylinder engines. It doesn't bother me.
