I'm still rocking an old Inspiron 1705 from like 6 years ago....and crammed with 3 gb of RAM and a 500GB 7200 rpm HD, it's really not that slow. Except for video editing....at that it is slow.

So anyway....a new laptop is on the horizon. My wife has a new Asus that honestly I think is kind of cheap feeling vs. my old Inspiron. Are the new Inspirons any good?

I know I can pick up something like this for $800 from the Dell outlet:

•Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i7-3612QM Processor (6MB cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
•Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
•Dell Outlet Inspiron 17R - 5720 Laptop
•1 TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
•8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
•8X Tray Load CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
•Nvidia GeForce GT 630M 1GB

I don't need an uber fast video card...and I think I've heard that the 640m is a nice upgrade over the 630m. And honestly I've thought about dropping down from 17" to 15.6", although 95% of the time the laptop sits at the desk.

Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts or screaming deals in mind on a similar laptop feel free to chime in. If an i5 would be sufficient for video editing that would probably do the trick too. Thanks.
