This link says that the 9-11 attacks did approximately $100 billion in damage, not including people's lives.

1997-2004 is over 7 years. If we say ELF is doing $100 million in damage every 7 years, then they'll equal out with the 9-11 attack in roughly the year 9004. 9-11 was 1000 times more significant than everything ELF has ever done.

sure 9/11 was a lot of damage.

but that was one hit. Over the years elf has hit many times a year. it seems every year 60 minutes or 20/20 does something on them.

They have ruined homes. business and peoples lives also. I'm just amazed that the goverment is not cracking down harder on them.

Since we are in this "war on terror" i would think now would be a good time to do it also.

9/11 is estimated to have cause $100 Billion in damages. Here is one Link though it is burried in there. Maybe you should do some research. The numbers just don't compare. ELF is a little blip not worth the FBI's Counter Terrorist efforts.

Then how about we take some money away from the DEA so the FBI can take out the ELF.

Yes, that was "one hit." But it caused more damage than ELF will ever, concievably mete out. AND we know that al-Quaida is planning more of these "one hit"s. So, which group should the FBI and CIA devote their scarce resources to destroying? If you say ELF, please, don't go anywhere near a government position.

I am sure the government has resources assigned to each listed terrorist group. I think preslove is rightly saying that the most resources are going to be designated to the eradication of those groups that pose the greatest threat to people.

So far, ELF hasn't crossed the line of murdering anyone, whereas Al-Qaeda's (sp?) biggest wet dream is the death of every American. I think we can afford to put off the vigorous pursuit of ELF until Al-Qaeda is destroyed.

No, that is not what I'm saying. I know for a fact that the ELF has been infiltrated by the FBI. They keep tabs on them, they are probably right now trying to get enough evidence to indict the people who burned all those hummers. The problem, though, is that the FBI only has so many agents assigned to counter-terrorist operations. This means that there probably are only a few agents assigned to ELF and their ilk. This means that whatever investigation is now going on will continue to do so on a very slow time table.

There are so few agents on ELF duty because, hopefully, most are looking for Al-Quaida cells. This is far more important than protecting hummers and log piles.

Oh, and Mugs. It just isn't as simple as giving money from one agency to another. Alot of it is training agents and dealing with tons and tons of red tape. By the time agents and money from the DEA got to the FBI (would never happen, because the DEA would have a sh!t fit), those agents and that money would probably be reassigned to hunting for al-Quiada.
