My dad has a dedicated medium size copy machine that he wants to replace, will these all in one things do a good job?

Quality wise? Not really that amazing.

Speed wise? Same here too.

The 3 in one things are getting better with time, but if your looking for best possible quality then get one individual thing.

If your looking to save money and have a reasonable scan and print then yea sure, go for it :)

The new ones aren't bad. If you are replacing a copier, look at the Xerox (the one I have) Work Center machines or the new HP all-in-ones. Personally, if you copy a lot of stuff, I would want a laser version over an inkjet.

the hp machines have the same quality in the AIO's as in the individual machines. like the scanner in an AIO is just as good as a standalone scanner w/ the same specs.
i agree about laser though. if you're doing a lot of copying than it'll eat up an inkjet cartrdige quickly. however, laser AIO's are butt expensive. if all he does is copy than stick with that.
