How am I supposed to write a balanced equation if I don't know what all of the products are? WTF?

Here's the question:

Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction of Cu(NO3)2 (aq) with KI (aq) including states. Note: Two of the products are CuI and I2. Which of the above reactants change oxidation states? What are the changes?

How TF am I supposed to figure that out?

here is the lab if that helps. I'm doing the prelab right now. I have this lab at 8am, which is in 5 hours. :(

Look up the solubility rules of nitrate. I'm almost positive KNO3 is soluble, so that isn't one of the products. K+ and NO3- are most likely spectator ions in the equation.

Thanks. I still don't know how to do 2 or 3. I'm just gonna go to bed. :(

I want to be a spectator ion when I grow up.
