How accurate is the IRS refund schedule?

I went onto the IRS site to check my refund status, and it said I should receive it today. However it still hasn't show up.

So my question is, is it normal for it to be late?

If you are getting direct deposit, it appears as if the IRS runs them through the banks on a friday.

i.e. For an e-filed return, you will get your return direct deposited on the friday that is 2 weeks after you filed your return.

That scheduled was followed to the day for my return.

both the e-file i did were deposited on the bank account on the exact day that the IRS stated.

It may be your bank holding it up waiting for the funds to clear.

Will the IRS let you know if they found mistakes with your return? I did mine through TurboTax so there should be no problem, but just wondering if that's the hold-up...

sort of. They will provide you with a code that you can call to discuss. My efile currently is on hold and I was provided a code. According to the IRS, the code I was given signified a numerical or hash total error and should be fixed in 2-3 days. It's been 4 and it's still there, though.
