How accurate is that max CPU temp program?

I can't remeber the name, but someone linked to it, it's on xtremesystems I think.

It read my MAX temp on my Venice to be 57*C.

YEsterday when I bumped my Venice to 2.7GHZ 1.58v, it ran stable, but the temp shot to 55-56*C while running Prime.

I was just wondering if I was really 1*C away from killing my beautiful Venice!

Nah, You'd have to hit like 80+ to kill it, it's just that it's designed to work at lower temps. I, personally, wouldnt recommend loading your PC to 100% CPU usage 24/7 if you're not confortable with the temps, by the way.

Well, settings in sig, I get 32*C idle and 45-46*C load, so those temps are more than acceptable. 10*C temp increase for 100mhz isn't really worth it to me anyways.

I think it's always better try to keep at least 20C below this value if you can, we usually try and wait to reach just below the critical tempreture level what the manufacturer states is the maximum temperature the CPU will operate at. This is just to decide by yourself the CPU do you operate at this temperature as it will be borderline between working and burning out.

I usually take my heat sink off my CPU in the morning and cook up a nice bacon and eggs breakfast in the morning right on my CPU!!!

ROFL :p :D

Seriously though, I think the max temp on Venice is somewhere in the 65c area. I know mine (a Winchester) is right at 65c, but I'm not sure for Venice ;) .
