How accurate is dell's ship dates?

i ordered a usb/firewire enclosure from them that originally said would ship in 5-7 days. it's showing up as being delayed with a 7/16/03 ship date.

i need this darn thing so i can put my dvd writer in... 🙁
 
Its not accurate at all. I got my 2000FP like 3 days before it was supposed to ship. (I got it ~2-3 days after I ordered, IIRC.)
 
yeah, usually i hear that they ship before the scheduled date....

ive yet to order anything from dell tho 😕
 
Well the expected delivery date is the worst case scenario imho. So far all my purchases have shipped and been received before the estimated ship date.
 
yea, i't's very bad. i ordered my camera almost 2 yrs ago on backorder and got it the next day, ordered laptop took like 2 weeks. they aren't very good with accuracy. they usually over-estimate though.
