How accurate are those EPT tests?

Wife just called and said she's been pretty sick the past couple of mornings, so while she was at the pharmacy she picked up an EPT test. (She's out of town for work)

She calls me 5 times today, while I'm at work (with customers I might add) so I don't answer it. By the time it dies down at work I call her back. She tells me the test came back positive.

We're gonna wait till she comes back before we take another to be sure, then see a doc.

But are they really that accurate? Or should I just not worry about it?

Extremely accurate. The slight inaccuracy usually comes in the form of false negatives. If it says positive she is pregnant.

Congratulations!

Do you have a box in your house?

They are very accurate and you need to see the M.D. anyhow, he will repeat the test too.

congrats!

think about whatever you say for at least 3 seconds - preferably 5

EPT works by checking for a protein only secreted during pregnancy. The test scores a positive when the antibodies on the strip bind causing it to change colors. Basically, your wife is pregnant. congrats. Almost no error on false positives.

I am still in shock lol. I was reading up on the tests and most of them are horribly inacurate, but as someone stated it usually is a false negative result and never a false positive.

Goin to the doctor when she gets back

Horribly inaccurate?

I don't know where you're getting your info but they are remarkably accurate considering their price & ease of use.

And as you discovered on your own, false positives are virtually non-existant.

Have fun at the Dr, daddy.

Is this something that you'd be looking forward to, or are you not ready for a baby yet?

Just curious.

Thats a pretty silly question. Obviously he's ready for a baby, otherwise he would have either

a. Abstained.

b. Used protection (both he and she)

Congrats!!

No, but I bag 3-4 of them a day.

They always want a bag, I wonder why... 😛
