How accurate are IWILL KK266 temp readings?

I have heard not very accurate. I am building my box with the KK266 this weekend so I will be curious to find out myself.

JPS,

How do you know that? From what i've seen its more like 7-10C under read on average, and i've seen an approximately 15C under-read, too...

Mikewarrior2,

That is what I have seen on friend's boards and what I have heard in different newsgroups/boards. I would not be surprised if it is more like what you stated.

Anyway, it does under read. The question is how to get an accurate read?

I'd be willing to help categorize peeps' info so we can have meaningful comparisons across boards if anyone else thinks this is a good idea

hmmm...what's the best way to get accurate readings? I was getting 55C load with a FOP32, does that translate to 70C?? Holy smokes!

MightyBao,

No, it could be 55C, or 60C or anything up to 70C... depends on your setup.

NoLamerz,

That doesn't work because socket-a temps are highly dpeendant on factors that can be manipulated. On top of that, you can't compare cross-MB platforms because of mb compensation/thermistor location, etc issues.

JPS,

Like all socket-thermistor setups, you can't get an accurate read. There are steps that can improve the reading to more closely reflect CPU die temp, if your mb can do this... Move the thermistor so that it contacts CPU Ceramic PCB, then Apply some heatsink grease to the thermistor tip.
