how about asus rampage formula x48

I'm using ASUS Rampage Formula, loving it. But it's unfortunate I have not been able to awaken its true capabilities due to high room temp and a B3 stepping Q6600, just stuck at what you see in my sig. Maybe when I can move this rig to an AC room. Nevertheless, it's a stable board for me, good cooling all over the mobo.

I don't have any comments on Gigabyte X48, never owned that or any Giga boards, sorry.

Can't wait to get my hands on those Q9550 when Intel does their price cuts 😀

I think the Q9300 tops out at 3.4~3.5Ghz, even then, i wouldn't push the voltage to get 3.5Ghz; in order to get 3.5Ghz, fsb needs to be somewhere between 450 & 475 which translate under 1000 DDR2 which again makes the board overkill; now this board is good if you plan on running dual video cards but yet again, alot of horror stories about those types of setups with the price to performance ratio lower than what i'd pay for. The board I have for my e8400 uses 8-phase pwm also and is 89$ open box. I bought almost everything for my quad open box except for the memory and guess what ended up being bad, the memory (retail DDR3 1333 - upgraded since then) everything else ran fine. The memory worked but not at stated latencies which is why i returned them. but I think I saved about 100$ buying open box. Again, all the open box items work excellent.
