How about an ultra-high res. pic of 100,000 galaxies?

Those 400meg tiffs of the earth were great... but when I showed them to my dad after I got back from college, he kept pointing out really obvious landmarks ("hey, you know what that is?"...."it's europe, dad.") and he got greasy fingerprints all over my monitor. :disgust:

Get over it. I wish my father was still alive to enjoy pictures with me (he died in '85 when I was 17). He could rub his fingers all over my damn monitor and I'd just smile.

How are you so sure it's 100,000 and not 99,997? Did you count them all? Can you name them?

Well, the european southern observatory said there were 100,001...I'll just take their word on it, they're the astrophysicists, after all. 😛

Edit: And yes, I can name them. They are galaxies NGC300, NGC301, NGC302...all the way up to NGC100301. 😛

🙂

I meant that to be an amusing annecdote, not a bash against my dad... 😱
