How About A "Storage" Section in the Forums

May I suggest that the forum moderators consider establishing a Hard Drive/Storage section for postings of that nature. It would direct discussions that are now spread out over a bunch of existing forum sections into a logical area, and would speed up the ability of posters to communicate on those issues. Thanks for your consideration. TheBeagle 🙂

Any reason why it wouldn't fit into General Hardware? Granted there are a lot of HD questions but I think they fit just fine into GH. There have been requests for new forums (such as Programming) for ages but I don't think they'll ever arrive.

Well, all manner of stuff gets interspersed in the GH category. It (GH) is like Fibber Maggee's Closet, it has an eclectic assortment of items, many of which do not at all relate. Considering how advanced many of the storage equipment devices and issues are, especially considering the growing popularity of RAID and now eSATA drives, it would very beneficial to have all that dialog in one place. Thanks. TheBeagle

"Isn't going to happen." That is what you will see. It has been tried, suggested, asked for, pleaded, and begged for. HDD, split software, etc. it doesn't happen.

General Hardware: Critique My Build, Computer won't start, Keyboards, Mice, PC Speakers, Power Supplies. Since we see very little discussion on RAID controllers and Disk performance, a Storage forum would probably see little activity.

Operating Systems, Cases & Cooling, CPU/Processors & Overclocking, Motherboards: Self-explanatory. Request for a Memory forum is understandably denied because suggestions for best OC-headroom/timings are handled in CPU/Processors and Overclocking; boot-issues and compatibility errors are looked into in Motherboards.

Video: GPUs and Monitors. Includes driver headaches and game performance analysis.

What would be nice:
Programming: For the whiny programmers

What I don't get:
Peripherals: Little activity, queries end up in General Hardware
Technical Support: Little activity, queries from here end up in Operating Systems/General Hardware

What we will never see:
Consumer Electronics: Consoles, cell phones, personal music players, digital video recorders etc. have all found a home in Off-Topic.

I still think its particularly crazy to not have a dedicated gaming forum on a hardware site that extensively covers gaming hardware. The software, apps and games forum is so broad that it doesnt attract focused discussions.
