How about a little DPAD noise?

I haven't been around here much lately. I went through the house updating software (including the DPAD client) today, so I thought I would say Hi!

I found this really cool DPAD Stats site and was surprised to find myself as a top daily producer right behind the Z man.

Anyway, what's the latest in the muon world?

Hey viz!! Great to see you again and great to hear some DPAD talk round here again! 😀

I think we need to get the general back in here.. yeah you know.. Dan the man! 😉

Z has been keeping TA at the very top for so long now that I had almost forgotten about that project. Let me guess, Stephen still runs the place? 😉

Anyone know how to contact him? His profile shows no email & he's been gone almost 3 months 🙁
I hope we didn't lose him for good.

Maybe I could scare DanC out of his stupor by posting here.

Good to see you too amdxborg and Rich! I'm still around and kicking, but have had some health troubles lately.

I don't know why DPAD went out of favour. TA only has a handful of active crunchers. I guess when the DPC blew us out of first that was the end of it. :frown:

I had thought about installing it at the school, but the FTP transfer nixed that idea. I didn't want to fool with sneaker netting or inventing my own proxy. 😛

Wow, voztech, you're right!!

I just checked the DPAD stats and was quite shocked that TA is NOT #1 in that project. Somehow - due to Z - I always thought that we were #1 and in a very safe position as well.

But I guess another reason is that Brooks didn't really give much feedback on the improvements and real life results, or did he? I've been away from DPAD too long to be taken as a reliable source.

Viz, you've been away for awhile. DPAD is still going and progressing. Stephen Brooks is around but sometimes he goes a few days between posts.

Dan has moved over to the Dutch Power Cows. I missed all the drama associated with that.

The Free-DC stats site is a great one-stop stats shop.

I'm definitely still working at DPAD. I am currently in the top 10 highest percentages for 3 of the 4 running optimizations. Tommorow, I may be in none of them. The fast paced world of pions, muons and neutrinos is hard to keep up with.

Yea he had a falling out with a few other members ,it was all very odd as their didn't appear to be anything major to upset anyone about ,but apparently there was 🙁 😕

Btw I'm in the DPAD team too ,though those stats don't seem to show my name 😕 ,is that because I'm inactive?

[edit] I am here though 🙂

Talking of which I shall be switching my 2nd PC over to DPAD once the S@H MTR is over (about 3weeks I think) ,its not a lot but I will be back in🙂
I intially stopped DPAD only because BBR were catching us in SETI.

Good to see you again Viz 🙂
Inccidently ,have you checked out Dimes?

Yup. They only show active users in some of the stats. I don't agree with it, but thats the way Stephen does it.

No, I haven't. What's the scoop there mate?

Good to see you too A1!

dpad > all that is dc 😉

With a little effort, TA could easily squelch the deutchsland

welcome back, viz

Before I start I'd better say this is not an attempt to leech members from one project to another within TA 😉

Dimes takes next to zero CPU power ,hence you can run it alongside your current DC with no impact to it! 😀
How? ,well its purpose is to map the internet to get a better idea of how its used, linked up & how it could be better used ,hence it needs no real CPU power (task Info 2000 shows occasionaly blips of 0.38% cpu time on my XPM @ 2.52 GHz 🙂)
All it needs is a little bandwidth ,so fine on broadband but probably not on dial up.

It'll also do useful work on really old machines too as long as they have enough RAM (it uses about 40-50MB on my rig) ,we have a member whose running it on a Pentium 200MMX! 🙂

So its a win - win situation with this project 😉

For more info go here and here 🙂

Take care Viz hope to see more of you about 🙂
