How about a "Bush-ism" for today?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Thursday defended his decision to exclude countries that did not support the U.S.-led effort to topple Iraqi President Saddam Hussein from bidding on some $18.6 billion in reconstruction contracts.

Asked whether the exclusion of those countries from bidding on construction contracts violates international law, Bush said,
"I don't know what you're talking about by international law. I better consult my lawyer."

I don't see what is so funny. Most people consult others when they don't understand a subject completely.

Why does he have to worry about International Law when he's spending American taxpayer money.

I never said anything about Bush as a president, nor did I intend this to be an attack on him. What I did find funny is the way he responded to a question posed to him. I would have thought that as a president making such a big statement/decision his advisors would have thought this through BEFORE to see if what he is proposing is actually possible.

Yeah, it's more of a slam to the people advising him than Bush himself. He comes up with ideas and they're the ones that check them to see if they're viable. It's not his fault they goofed.

LOL it's HILARIOUS that you people are going to decry bush for suggesting that "international law" does not apply to how the US spends it's tax dollars.

the power of an institution does not come from the fact of it's existence, but from the consensus of the majority;

the majority does not want the French or Russians in on this.

'international law be damed if it tries to tell us how to spend our cash' is more what bush was saying, but i guess you caught that and just don't like that it doesn't pander to the "one world socialist government" ideal.
