how about a bowflex?

My parents just got something very similar to the bow flex and as TiCk stated GO TO THE GYM! If you go to the gym you'll be...
a) more commited due to the fact that your out of the house and your paying a fee.
b) Let's be honest.. Whats going to happen to the bow flex 4-6 months down the road? I'll tell you what... the bow flex will become an expensive coat hanger. It's going to collect dust and will be untouched in the near future. I'm not saying that it's going to happen to you, but it does for most people that I know anyway.
What I would do is to sign up to a gym and hire a trainer to get you started. The trainer will give you that critical motivation that you'll need in the beginning so you do not get frustrated. My buddy is a trainer and from what he has told me the first 6 months are the hardest. Pay for the trainer and then when you get down a certain exercise that you feel comfortable with do it on your own. In my opinion, this will lead to greater success than if you bought a bow flex and went at it by yourself.
Plus... the trainer can start you off on a good nutritional diet, because eating well is just as important as exercising daily. And you should easily be able to do this without spending a lot of money.

For a busy guy like me I wouldn't have time to go to the gym but I do have a Bowflex but recommend getting a squat rack, flat bench, and some Olympic weight set. You can do alot with it... Here's my homegym.

ok heres my issue...i am a single dad and i work crazy hours...so its really hard for me to find the time to get to a gym...plus a gym with daycare around here is 69 bucks a month...so 20 months worth of gym gets me a bowflex...plus saving me the time of driving to the gym which is a half hour each way...it seems logical to me, but I tend to sell myself on things too quickly....thanks for all the responses...keep them coming...i have to make up my mind by the middle of this week cause thats when the shipment comes in (I guess they cant keep the things in stock)

If you're busy and gym is 30 min each way that's not going to work for you.
Do you have room - maybe a garage - where you could put some weight equipment? Bowflex is better than nothing but if you can drop in some weights they'll be more effective for you.
I'm trusting that you realize that the results that the people on the commercials have were not attained by bowflex - all those people clearly got their gains from hard long hours in the weight room.

oh yeah...thats the other thing...i live in an apartment so i cant have a whole buncha equipment around...and the bowflex would fit quite nicely in my bedroom...I already have a spot for it if i do decide....this is making me mad...I dont know if I should do this or not...but im gettin more out of shape every day i put it off....HELP ME!!!!!!!!
i would suggest trying it out thorougly a few times before you buy.... the big problem with these gadgets is that they're usually not easy to use...
if you can find a place to try it out, i guess go ahead and buy it but you should do everything you can to work with real weights. that's easily the best option/method.

You can buy a used one for nearly half the cost of a new one. One of the things you can always buy second hand and get a good deal is exercise equipment. Most of it has been hardly used at all.

I agree. Exercise equipment is probably the best deal out there in the used marketplace(outside of used condoms). People buy this stuff in an attempt to get in better shape then fall off the wagon. The stuff sits in their basement for years and gets sold for pennies on the dollar.

Check your local buy/sell magazines. I looked for a bowflex just last week in ours, had my choice of half a dozen. One was $700 and price went up to $1100. That's before dickering, too. They are out there, if you want to look.

My cousin's employee was on the infomercial, and from what she told them BowFlex is good if you don't have access to a gym. Otherwise, stick to freeweights.
