u mean like this......when i had my athlon xp 2000 + 512 PC2100 ram, i used to come out of ut2004 and i wouldnt be able to do anything for at least a minute coz it was loading something?

well that could be improved by.....faster ram, more ram, faster/ better hard drives ie with 8mb cache, decent memory bandwidth

i think it would depend mostly on the memory side, ut likes ram, so my guess is on my system i had to wait while it dumped the ut info, and tried to load a few things back up, all which depend mostly on memory bandwidth, memory amount, and the hard drives

if u post some system specs then ppl mite be able to point out to u what would neeed improving to see the best gains

Well #1 is the lag coming from internet game play? #2 What game? Ram could help this if your playing a game like doom3 with only 512megs. If it's internet games that is laging out on you then it could be the server your playing on or just your to far away and your ping is high. If you only have 512megs I would add 512 more. then you know it's not ram. Or very well could be your video card. What kind of video card do you have?
