After many years of faithful service crunching everything from SETI Classic to a few dozen different BOINC projects, my wife's home PC has finally moved on to Silicon Heaven. RIP XP 2000+. Rest well, surrounded by your forest of blown motherboard capacitors! 🙁

Anyway, I would love to use this as an excuse to get a fast new system, but I simply don't have a budget for anything right now so I'm going to do something I didn't think I'd ever do here: beg. 😛

If any of you happen to have an old motherboard and CPU sitting in a closet/box/desk/etc. that could use a new home I'd like to try to work something out. Maybe a trade if I happen to have something you need, or I could put my office computer farm to work for you for a while if you prefer (BOINC projects only)? It doesn't need to be particularly new or fast, as long as it works and can run MS Office and basic Flash type games reasonably well.

If you have anything I can use, or have suggestions where I might be able to find something suitable, I'd appreciate it!

 
I know I have at least a proc and some memory. I will try to dig it out and see what it is...
 
I've got a Duron 1100, mbd & RAM but I think I'm in the wrong country & that XP3000 kicks the snot out of this one!:Q😉

I was reserving this hardware for the Anandtech Cluster but it seems that's not going anywhere soon. I retired this more than a year back but if you're interested, it's yours:

I've got 2gb OCZ PC2-6400 that wsa supposed to go in a gaming machine here that never panned out. I wsa hoping to send it to the tech round up so we could get some extra crunching going, but I haven't see anything with that in a while. Good RAM, if you can use it. Anyone can have it.

Now if you have a corkscrew that you have handy that I could borrow. That would make me exceptionally happy. I corked & prepped 22 bottles of limoncello tonight, and I don't have a damn corkscrew to try a bottle. 🙁

The only corkscrew I have is attached to my old Swiss Army Knife, FMC. Do you have one of those hiding somewhere? 🙂

I don't have a swiss army knife. Sounds like something I need to beg to Liz for for Christmas. 😉
 
I received the motherboard and CPU today. Thanks, Silverthorne! I probably won't have time to put it together today but I'll get it up and running as soon as possible. 🙂
